2025 FCBA Beekeeping Course Registration Form

The Frederick County Beekeeping Association (FCBA) is offering a beginning class for new beekeepers. The class covers beekeeping basics to help prepare would-be beekeepers for establishing and maintaining honey bee colonies. Cost is $90 per person ($170 for two).

The 3-day course will be held on three Saturdays in 2025 — Jan. 11, Jan. 18 and 25 (Snow date, February 1st), from 9am-3pm at:

Prerequisite: To be better prepared, purchase and read Beekeeping for Dummies (5th edition 2020) by Howland Blackiston prior to the class. You can purchase the Kindle e-Version or a print version on Amazon. Click here.

Note that in addition to this course, new beekeepers are encouraged 1) to continue their studies about the physiology of bees and their care, 2) to join a local beekeeping club, 3) to subscribe to monthly beekeeping journals such as "Bee Culture" and/or "American Bee Journal," and 4) to avail themselves of a beekeeping mentor, if available.
