The Frederick County Beekeeping Association (FCBA) is offering a beginning class for new beekeepers. The class covers beekeeping basics to help prepare would-be beekeepers for establishing and maintaining honey bee colonies. Cost is $90 per person ($170 for two). Registration is restricted to those who have not taken this course in the past.

The 3-day course will be held on three Saturdays in 2024 — Jan. 13, Jan. 20 and 27 (Snow date, February 3rd), from 9am-3pm at:

Note that in addition to this course, new beekeepers are encouraged 1) to continue their studies about the physiology of bees and their care, 2) to join a local beekeeping club, 3) to subscribe to monthly beekeeping journals such as "Bee Culture" and/or "American Bee Journal," and 4) to avail themselves of a beekeeping mentor, if available.
